These terms govern your use of the VunaSoko app and website. Please read them together with our Privacy Policy.
About these terms
VunaSoko is operated by Vuna Soko Mesh, referred to here as “VunaSoko”, “we” or “us”. By creating an account or using our services, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the services. Questions can be sent to vunasoko@gmail.com.
What the service provides
VunaSoko helps farmers, buyers, aggregators and businesses offering value-added products discover opportunities and connect. Features include produce listings, expressions of interest, contact sharing, sourcing tools, market-price information and training materials.
VunaSoko does not currently process payments, hold money in escrow or provide delivery services. We are not a party to a purchase agreement made between users. An expression of interest is an enquiry, not a completed purchase or a guarantee that stock has been reserved.
Your account
You must be at least 18 and legally able to enter into an agreement to use an account. If you act for a business or another person, you must have authority to do so.
Use a phone number you control, provide accurate profile information and keep it up to date. Sign-in requires a supported mobile number; registration currently supports Safaricom numbers. Phone verification confirms access to that number, not a user's identity, trustworthiness or product quality.
Keep your device and verification codes secure. Do not impersonate anyone or let another person use your account to mislead others. Contact us promptly if you believe someone has accessed your account without permission. Your network provider's data and communications charges may apply.
Listings and product responsibilities
Only list products you own or are authorised to offer. Descriptions, photographs, quantities, prices, units, location and availability must be accurate. Update or remove information when it is no longer correct, especially when produce is sold, unavailable or no longer suitable for sale.
Do not use a photograph that misrepresents the product. You must have permission to use the images and other content you submit. Do not publish another person's private information without authority.
Sellers remain responsible for product safety, lawful sale, applicable licences and accurate statements about quality or certification. For perishable goods, agree collection times, handling and storage requirements directly with the buyer. A listing does not mean VunaSoko has inspected or approved the product.
Dealing with other users
Before agreeing a transaction, confirm the identity of the other party, product condition, quantity, price, collection or delivery arrangements and payment terms. Buyers and sellers are responsible for their own agreements and for resolving disputes about those agreements, subject to their legal rights.
A listing owner chooses whether to share contact details through the response process. Use information received through VunaSoko only for the relevant enquiry or an arrangement agreed with that person. Do not collect contact details for unsolicited advertising, harassment or resale.
No feature guarantees a response, a buyer, a sale or an income. VunaSoko does not currently charge a transaction commission through the app. Any future paid service will be explained, including its price and conditions, before you are asked to use or pay for it.
Acceptable use
- Do not post fraudulent, unlawful, threatening, discriminatory or deliberately misleading content.
- Do not offer prohibited or unsafe goods, or make unsupported claims about a product's origin, quality or certification.
- Do not send spam, misuse contact details or infringe another person's privacy or intellectual-property rights.
- Do not attempt to bypass access controls, interfere with the service, distribute malicious software or extract personal information without authorisation.
Concerns about misuse can be sent to vunasoko@gmail.com. Include enough detail to identify the issue without sending passwords, verification codes or unnecessary sensitive information.
Your content and our materials
You retain ownership of the content you submit. You give VunaSoko permission to store, display, format and share that content as necessary to operate the features you use. This permission is not a transfer of ownership or a general right to use your content for unrelated advertising.
When content is removed, we stop displaying it through the relevant feature, subject to operational processing and lawful retention described in our Privacy Policy. Removal cannot recall copies already saved by another user.
VunaSoko's branding, software and training materials belong to us or their respective rights holders. You may use the service and read its materials for their intended purpose. Do not present them as your own or redistribute them commercially without permission, unless the material's licence or applicable law permits it.
Market prices and training
Published market prices are reference information, not a binding offer. Prices may vary with date, market, grade, quantity and other conditions. Check the information's date and confirm current terms with the other party.
Training materials provide general information. They cannot account for every farm, product, animal or local condition. Where a decision affects animal health, food safety, chemical use or another specialist matter, seek advice from a suitably qualified professional and follow applicable instructions and regulations.
Service availability and account restrictions
We may maintain, update or change features, and interruptions can occur. We do not promise uninterrupted access or that every error will be prevented.
We may remove content or restrict access where reasonably necessary to address misuse, protect users, comply with law or respond to a material breach of these terms. Where appropriate and lawful, we will explain the reason and allow you to raise a concern by email. Urgent safety or security action may be taken without advance notice.
You may stop using VunaSoko at any time. To request account closure or deletion of your personal information, follow the contact process in our Privacy Policy. Closing an account does not cancel obligations under an agreement you have made with another user.
Responsibility and legal rights
Each user is responsible for their own listings, communications and transactions. VunaSoko does not guarantee another user's conduct, product quality or fulfilment of an agreement.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for losses arising solely from transactions between users, inaccurate user-submitted content or third-party services outside our control. This does not exclude responsibility for our own conduct where the law makes us responsible, or limit any consumer or data-protection right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Applicable law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya. Please contact us if you have a concern about the service so we can try to resolve it. Nothing in these terms prevents you from contacting a competent regulator or bringing a claim before a court with jurisdiction.
Changes and contact
We will publish revised terms on this page and update the date above. Material changes will be brought to your attention through an appropriate service notice before they take effect where required. If you do not accept revised terms, you may stop using the service.
