Help & FAQ

Answers to common questions about using VunaSoko.

Getting started

How do I sign in or create an account?

Enter a phone number you control, then enter the verification code sent by SMS. If you are new, complete your profile and select the role that fits what you do. You do not need an email address or password to sign in.

Why have I not received a verification code?

Check the number you entered and that the SIM can receive SMS. Wait for the resend option in the app before requesting another code. If the problem continues, contact support. Never share your verification code, including with someone claiming to be VunaSoko support.

Which mobile networks can I use?

Registration currently supports Safaricom numbers. Both 07 and 01 number formats are accepted where the number belongs to a supported network. If the app says your carrier is not supported, use a supported number that you control.

Which role should I choose?
  • Farmer: you grow or produce agricultural goods to sell.
  • Buyer: you want to find produce and contact sellers.
  • Aggregator: you source produce from suppliers and coordinate quantities for onward sale.
  • Startup: your business makes value-added products from our core value chains.

VunaSoko focuses on sweet potatoes, cassava, dairy and tree seedlings. Ask us if you are unsure which role fits your work.

Listings and finding buyers

What should I include in my listing?

Use clear photos of the actual product. Enter the available quantity, the correct unit, price, location and an accurate description. Include packaging or collection details when requested. Update the listing when availability changes.

What is the difference between total quantity and packaging?

Total quantity is how much you have altogether. Packaging describes how it is divided. For example, five bags weighing 20 kg each contain 100 kg in total. Choose the unit and packaging that match how you actually sell the product.

How do I get a seller's phone number?

Open the listing and express interest. The listing owner decides whether to share contact details. Check your interests for the response. After contact is shared, you can call or copy the number from the app.

Does expressing interest reserve the product?

No. It sends an enquiry to the listing owner; it is not a reservation or completed order. Confirm availability, quantity, price and collection arrangements directly with the seller after contact is shared.

Can I pay or arrange delivery through VunaSoko?

VunaSoko does not currently process payments, hold money or arrange delivery. Buyers and sellers agree those details directly. Check the product and the other party's details before making a payment.

Prices and learning

Are the published market prices guaranteed?

No. They are reference prices, not offers to buy or sell. Check the market, unit and date shown. Actual prices can differ with quality, quantity and availability, so confirm the price with the other party.

Where can I find practical training?

Open Training Materials in the app. Browse the illustrated articles, search for a topic or use the filters to narrow the list. Open an article to read its instructions and pictures inside VunaSoko.

Your account and notifications

Why am I not getting notifications?

Check your internet connection and open Notifications in your profile settings to review permission on your phone. Your phone's notification or battery settings may also affect delivery. You can still open the app and check your interests for responses.

What happens if I use two phones?

Account notifications can reach both phones while you are signed in and notifications are allowed. Sign out on a phone you no longer use so it stops receiving new account notifications. Notifications already displayed may remain on the device.

How do I change my name or delete my account?

To change your name, open your profile and choose Edit. For account deletion, contact support. Uninstalling the app does not delete your account. Our Privacy Policy explains how information is retained.
